Privacy Policy

Your data stays on your device by default

Rounds you record are stored locally on your device (in your browser’s storage on the web, or on-device storage in the mobile app). If you never sign in, your scoring data is not sent to our servers.

Information we collect when you sign in

Signing in is optional and enables cloud backup, sync across devices, and playing with friends. When you sign in we process:

• Account information — your email address and a user ID from our authentication provider, and a display name if you set one. If you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive your email and basic profile from them.
• Your golf data — saved rounds you choose to sync (scores, putts, fairways/greens, chips, notes, course and tee played, date) and your practice sessions.
• Preferences — settings you set, such as your home course, saved courses, club bag, and optional handicap details (an estimated Handicap Index derived from your rounds, and a GHIN number if you enter one). We do not connect to GHIN; a GHIN number you enter is stored for your reference only.
• Friends & group play — connections you create with other users and, during a live round you share, the scores broadcast to the players you invite.
• Notification token — if you enable notifications, a device push token so we can alert you to live-round invites.

How we use your information

We use it solely to provide the app: to back up and sync your rounds, to let you connect with friends and share live rounds, and to search for courses. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.

Location

The on-course rangefinder uses your device’s location, only while you have it open, to measure the distance from where you stand to a point you tap. Your location is used on your device to draw the map and compute yardages — we do not store it or send it to our servers.

Notifications

If you allow notifications, we send them only for live rounds — for example, when a friend invites you to score together. You can turn notifications off at any time in your device settings.

Purchases & tips

The app is free. If you choose to leave an optional tip, the purchase is processed by the App Store or Google Play — we never receive or store your payment details. We use RevenueCat to manage purchases; it processes a purchase identifier so we can recognize your tip, not your card information.

Third-party services

• Supabase — authentication, database, and real-time sync that store your account and synced data on our behalf.
• Apple & Google — optional sign-in (we receive your email and basic profile) and, if you tip, payment processing through the App Store or Google Play.
• RevenueCat — manages in-app purchases (tips). It handles a purchase identifier, not your payment details.
• Push delivery — Expo’s push service and Apple/Google’s notification networks deliver live-round notifications to your device.
• GolfCourseAPI — when you search for a course, your search text is sent to this provider to return matching courses. We do not send your identity with these requests.
• Vercel — hosting and standard server logs (such as IP address and request data) used to operate and secure the service.

Data retention & deletion

You can delete your account at any time from within the app: go to Settings → Delete account. This permanently removes your account and all data synced to our servers — your rounds, practice, preferences, profile, friend connections, and notification token — and cannot be undone. You can also remove local data at any time by signing out or clearing the app’s data. If you have any trouble, email us at cmdeveloped@gmail.com.

Children

SimplerScores is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.

Security

We use reputable providers and reasonable safeguards to protect your data, but no method of transmission or storage is completely secure.

Changes

We may update this policy. Material changes will be reflected by the “Last updated” date above.
